A leading painter of the Post-Impressionist Movement, Paul Gauguin is one of the lesser known masters of the late ninetenth
century art movement.
Realizing the flaws with Impressionism, Gauguin rejected Impressionist's unballanced and incomplete pictures. Seeking orginiality
and structure, Gauguin began expirementing with the juxtoposition of opposites and vivid color.
Over time, Gauguin evolved towards Cloisonnism where he dejected attention to classical perspective and boldly eliminated
variation is color grade. Gauguin contstantly sought originality and in the last part of his life, he abandoned his family,
picked up his paints and moved to Tahiti where some of his greatest works (like the one shown) were realized.
